Unguentarium
This is one of the two ivory pieces from the eleventh century harboured at the museum. It is a small receptacle that is practically a perfect sphere made on the lathe and a lid. It must have originally been used to store some type of cosmetic unguent or perfume. Because it is made of ivory, it is believed to come from abroad given that this material was not used in the Catalan lands during that period. It was discovered at the Cathedral during the restoration of the main altar in 1960, along with other pieces.
