Cross with enamel
This is one of the best mediaeval metalwork pieces harboured at the museum. It is part of an extensive series of copper objects with champlevé enamelling produced in southern Europe in the twelfth century. It shows Christ on the cross fully enamelled except for his head, which is depicted in relief, superimposed on the piece. On the ends of his arms, he is accompanied by the Virgin and Saint John on the right and left, respectively. At the foot of the cross is the figure of Adam, while the hand of God the Father is on the upper part.
